A skilled leader and advisor with successful general management and executive human resource experience, Paul has provided strategic leadership in Human Capital Management, Operations, Organizational Design & Leadership Development to firms around the world. A former Chief Human Resource Officer for large private and public firms including Mattamy Homes, Palliser Furniture, Fidelity Investments and Noma Industries, Paul has mixed Human Capital with P&L responsibilities including the role of Division President for Mattamy’s commercial real estate portfolio as well as the leader on major marketing and communications projects.
As an associate of CEO Global Network, a leading Canadian CEO Peer Group, Paul provides strategic advice to Group Leaders and their business leader clients. Paul’s intimate knowledge of business operations and people leadership throughout North America includes industry experiences in financial services, manufacturing, retail, construction, import, technology, real estate, packaging, printing, consumer goods, and automotive.
An ICD-certified director, Paul has served as Vice Chair of WaterTAP (Ontario’s water technology accelerator) and Director and Governance Chair for Daisy Intelligence (a SaaS artificial intelligence firm). He currently serves as a Governor at the University of Guelph and Director of Home Ownership Alternatives (an affordable housing lender) as well as Board Secretary for general contractor Maple Reinders Group and bio-tech start-up OpenWorm. Paul has served on the Boards of for-profit firms such as Proceco and Mohawk-MedBuy well as as NFP organizations such as West Park Healthcare Centre and The Salvation Army as well as an active advisory role for The Goodman School of Business.
Paul has also acted as a governance advisor to manufacturing firms and academic organizations as well as instructing Strategic Human Resource Management at Ryerson University. A past Director of the Human Resource Professionals Association, a past member of the Special Experts Panel on Employee Relations for the US-based Society of Human Resource Management, Paul regularly provides pro bono strategic consulting to charitable organizations and foundations as well as zero-cost career transition services for low socio-economic youth.
